4 Tips on Keeping a Clean and Healthy Smile

Posted .

Oral hygiene is the most important thing you can do for your smile. In fact, oral hygiene is vital if you want a strong, successful, and healthy oral cavity. So, to help you achieve your smile goals and give you the best chance at obtaining a pristine oral health, we strongly recommend including the following four steps in your teeth cleaning regimen:

• Brush your teeth: Brush your teeth every morning and every night with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. This is the best way to scrub the food from your smile and clean your teeth and gums.

• Floss, floss, floss: Floss between each tooth at least once a day. Doing so will free any food particles that your toothbrush failed to remove, and it will also help you remove the plaque that grows on your teeth. If you would like flossing tips, please call our office now.

• Swish and rinse: Rinse your mouth at least once a day with beneficial mouthwash. This will not only deeply clean your smile, but it will also leave your mouth feeling fresh and pristine. You can use bacteria-killing, anti-gingivitis, or fluoride mouthwash to do the job. If you dislike the burning sensation alcohol-based rinses give you, feel free to look for a rinse that is made without alcohol.

• Visit your dentist: Visit your dentist every six months for a dental cleaning. During these appointments, our friendly dental team will deeply clean your smile, nourish your teeth, and prevent dental problems. The most important part of this appointment is the plaque removal technique. Our dentist or hygienist will gently scrape the surfaces of your teeth with a special tool to remove the plaque that lives and grows there. If the plaque is not removed, it could lead to tender and swollen gums as well as loose and lost teeth.
